Best UPS for 550W PSU?

NeatSquidYT
Go to solution Solved by jj509,

I can't find any reviews online for the CyberPower power UPS...

They're out there. Just may have to look at other sites. maybe a google search of the product.

I don't know how to do that, plus I prefer to have a warranty/good RMA service.

agreed. Plus you won't have to buy a whole new ups. Just replace the battery(s) every 2-5 years. Though I will admit the replacement battery(s) can cost a bit. As much as the UPS or more. Buying a UPS is like an investment. Providing a type of safety net for your electronics you plug into them.

Not trying to be mean by my whole living room setup is over $7000 that I've been buying over 2 years. I'm not gonna risk just plugging that into the wall outlet and hoping the power company doesn't have any issues ever.

Title says it all. I have a few power cuts a year in my area, so I want a UPS.

Eaton or cyberpower 600w which should be about 1000va or something.

Cyberpower is probs cheaper.

Depends on the PSU and the efficiency. Anything generally over 550W is fine, cause chances are you won't ever be pulling all 550W from your PSU anyways

True, I'm getting an RM550 so it's pretty efficient.

That UPS is only rated at 400 watts. You'd be technically drawing more from the UPS then what it could deliver on battery. Basically if you were gaming and the power went out the battery would only last you barely 10+ seconds.

My question to you is do you plan on just having only your PC plugged into this or also your monitor?

I myself have two 900 watt UPS for my main PC with 3 montiors & my entertainment system in the living room, PC & 70inch TV with 4 additional devices (Wii U, PS4, Cable box, Modem/router) I got This on a black friday sale for nearly $60 bucks off. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842102048&cm_re=cyberpower_ups-_-42-102-048-_-Product

Having such high wattage UPS's means it can handle all my devices I give it and if power does go out for extended period (not a split second power outage) my UPS battery will last me several mins if not an hour depending on what I have on so I can casually shut everything down with no data loss.

I would only plan on having it on my PC, because if my tv dies, it'll be a welcome death :P If I had everything hooked up (Wii, PS2,3,4 and PC) that would be nice, but not necessary as my PlayStations have been through power cuts and still striving for success! I'll look elsewhere for that UPS, becuase NewEgg in the UK is crap .

I have a big 12 volt battery hooked up to a charger and an 800 watt inverter, works a treat.

Ah good, and sorry didn't know about Newegg being crud in Euro zones.

My personal opinion is any of those are fine. But out of those 3 I only know Cyberpower brand. never heard of Oxxtron or PowerWalker so I would read many reviews on all 3 before making your decision. I tried to find something similar to what I have on Amazon UK and wow the prices are so high for what I use compared to USD$ currency.

I have a friend who does that. Doesn't looks clean and bulky but gets the job done.

Welcome to the UK! Horribly inflated prices even though the dollar is worth less than the pound!

Well I find it best to build a UPS yourself as you can replace the battery and not have to pay for a whole new UPS

The one I've found (http://www.ebuyer.com/407855-cyberpower-value-1000va-line-interactive-ups-value-1000eilcd) is basically perfect for me. 550W :P Thanks for your help, I've given you "Mark Solved".

A G3258 and 760 will not draw any more then 300W during gaming I guarantee you, and at that load, you'll have a good 8 minutes on that UPS.

Wonderful link Aniallation. You're correct and I just realized my oops. I was calculating it from the max wattage only. Didn't even think about his parts not using full wattage. (don't know why that dind't occur to me).

I just like having more wattage in my backup then what my PSU can crank out.
