HDMI doesnt work on my new monitor,please help?

I mean,it does work,but I have vg248qe 144hz monitor and I am using some hdmi that I got from shop,because in monitor box it didnt come with display port or hdmi.And it doesnt support 144hz I think.
So what I need to buy to get 144hz and BEST picture from it?Display port cabel,or Dual-link DVI-D or something else?

Dual-link DVI-D isnt as good as display port?

Displayport supports higher resolutions, refresh rates, and can be converted to damn near everything in case you need it.
