AHCI To IDE

So as you find in this  it's look like I have to change from AHCI to IDE so should I format the HDD or just install fresh windows or can I leave the windows as it is :D

 

Edit : I just realized this topic might be in the wrong place :D

When you install Windows it formats the drive anyway. You can probably change the mode to IDE in the bois with no issue, I think Windows Vista and onwards can detect AHCI to IDE, but not the other way around, so you wouldn't need to reinstall for this.

Before you do this make sure that AHCI mode is the issue. Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 shouldn't have any issues with AHCI instead of IDE and I have even managed to get Windows XP to work perfectly with AHCI. Sounds like your motherboard may be a the issue if the same problem is happening with several different drives
