Is interpolation really that bad?

-TesseracT-

How bad is it? How is gaming in 1080p on a 1440p screen caompared to gaming in 1080p on a 1080p screen?

awful, play native or a whole number scaler, otherwise its gonna be bad, to demonstrate this, use your current monitor and set it to a non native res

You will see a noticeable difference, text could look blurry and images distorted.

Well for one thing the pixels are considerably bigger and require to cover a large surface area on a display. You obviously get black bars on either side of your monitor due to scaling down the res. 27" with a 1440p res = 108.79 PPI compared to 27" with a 1080p res = 81.59 PPI, somewhere above 90-100 PPI is "A" okay
