HDD or SSHD With a Seperate SSD?

Go to solution Solved by flibberdipper,

SSD for OS and most used programs, SSHD for everything else. It will NOT be wasted. After it "learns" the most used files on that drive, it will cache them to the SSD part and those files will certainly load faster.

So, my upcoming build is compiled of a Crucial MX100 256GB SSD and a Seagate 1TB SSHD. Some one on reddit (ik) told me "You do not want a hybrid drive as a secondary in your desktop. The solid state part will be completely wasted if it's not the boot drive."

Is this true? I have heard the hybrid drives use the SSD portion as a cache sort of to make the most used programs faster.

I will be gaming.

IF that is true, what hard drive do you recommend?

Is the Caviar blue good for gaming or does that really matter?

Thanks!

I would get a standard HDD, because the slight increase in load times won't be worth the extra money you spent. Yes, the WD Blue is good enough.

the HDD if you want just pure storage  the SSHD if you want slightly faster storage. the standalone SSD is the best option but can be costly when you need capacit
