windows modern UI apps dont open

Windows store opens fine, just no other app besides PC Settings

 

I get this in my event log:

 

Error:  ESENT

Event ID: 490

 

svchost (1468) SRUJet: An attempt to open the file "C:\Windows\system32\SRU\SRU.chk" for read / write access failed with system error 5 (0x00000005): "Access is denied. ".  The open file operation will fail with error -1032 (0xfffffbf8).

Energy can not be created nor destroyed, just converted to a different Type of energy.

i take it you have restarted the computer and tried a system restore ?

I had the same problem a couple weeks ago. It resulted in a reinstall of windows :|

CPU: i5-3570K GPU: Sapphire R9 280X Vapor OC MOBO: Asus P8Z77-M RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 16GB. PSU: Corsair CX600M CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 7 rev 2 


SSD: 1x Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB, 1x Crucial M4 128GB HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB

is there a way to repair windows from the windows 8 disk so I dont have to install everything again?
