MP3 player connection Issue

WAI

hello guys,

recently one of my MP3 Players stopped working (as in not being able to connect to PC) as windows 7 says it has malfunctioned (the MP3 Player works fine though). the first thing i tired was the back USB Ports but not good (yes... i did try USB 3 and 2 ports). i also tried different cables and other MP3 players and they work. i even tried a Win. XP VM and another computer and still.... nothing. i had a friend of mine and she said normally after several years hardware just stops working and i'm like really? (i've seen much much older hardware still working today).

the MP3 Player i am trying to connect is the cowon G3 and again it works just fine. just that it has stopped connecting

From the story, my first guess would be the USB connector is broken. Not the one on the PC, but on the MP3 player. Theoretically you could try to fix it by replacing whatever is broken inside, but realistically might be too much work of finding the right part and all the servicing.

Kinda hard to say, 'this shouldn't be broken, because other older devices are still working'. Depends on the build quality of each individual device, I'd say. I got a 20+ years old Sony walkman that's still working, and piles of broken newer devices. I even got a PC optical mouse that broke in only a few weeks of use...
