Mouse choosing problem....

Thomieboy

Hello everybody,

I'll let you guys know, I'm pretty bad at choosing a mouse. I'm a bit perfectionistic.

Well, I'll start of with a little story.

I've been using a generic "gaming mouse" from Medion (European brand) but the rubber coating came of, and it has never been a good mouse either.

So previous tuesday I went to a store (Media Markt, for american people it's like best-buy with only electronic and domestic devices (I think :P )) and picked up the "Steelseries Rival".

When back home I noticed that the scroll wheel wasn't smooth and was hard to turn sometimes. So 2 days after that I brought him back and they have me a new one.

But I still notice it's a bit harder to turn on some positions on the wheel, but still a lot better than the previous one.

I finally tested the mouse thoroughly on all aspects, here are my thoughts:

PRO: Very soft tough, very accurate sensor, leds are awesome, software is very good too.

CONS: Bad shape (for my hands)

That only con is too big for me that it outweighs the pro's. I think it's not acceptable to have pain in your wrist when using a 60€ mouse.....

Luckily the store where I bought it form has a "14 days not happy, money back" guarantee. So I can still bring it back if I want (I hope).

My plan is to test it for a few days to see if the wrist pain goes away, and it becomes more  comfortable.

When not, I'm bringing it back.

OK, Now the real question to you guys, the awesome community on the LinusTechTips Forum:

Which mouse should I get now? I want: 2 side buttons, a led is nice, it has to be comfortable and nearly the same price.

But, Due to the way that guarantee works, I get a voucher to buy a new mouse in that store...

So I can only choose between the Razer and Steelseries mice....

I was thinking on the Steelseries Sensei (Raw?).

Does anyone can help me, or give their experience with steelseries mouses (Rival?).

Thanks In advance!

~~ Sorry for bad English. I'm from Belgium. Thanks! Have a nice day!  ~~

The Steelseries Sensei looks to be roughly the same shape and size as the Rival. If the Rival is giving you problems do to its size and shape, the Sensei would be a bad option..

If you can only get a Razer or Steelseries mouse, I would take a look at either the Deathadder or Taipan (both Razer)..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Not really, the sensei is an ambidextrous mouse, and the rival not. When you take a good look at pictures or videos of the Rival, you'll see that its a lot bigger and thicker than the sensei. The rival is right handed "ergonomical" shaped...
