list what you guys think are the most quiet fans in terms of sound level per RPM. 

 

please dont list noctua's we all know they are good, i just want more choices here.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

If i had the choice i would buy GTs but they dont exist anymore. My Noiseblockers PL-2 aren't bad.

Be Quiet! and Noiseblocker make decent, quiet optimised fans.

It is said, that civilised man seeks out good and intelligent company, so that through learned discourse he may rise above the savage and closer to God. Personally, however, I like to start the day with a total dickhead to remind me I'm best!

Fractal's fans that come with their cases, Gentle Typhoons, SP120's by Corsair.

 

Fractal fans are also really anemic and blow as much air as a mouse blowing its breath.

 

To the OP: Any fan can be quiet when the RPMs are low, this isn't some magic formula on some fans being quiet vs others. Noctuas are jet engines when you crank the RPMs up.

I have 2 Cougars that are really quiet and blow a descent amount of air, i might get more :)

Cougar CFV12HPB's are nice and quiet, 70 CFM and decent static pressure. Be Quiet! Silent Wings 2 are slightly quieter with about 50CFM if I recall correctly. Akasa Apaches (Rosewill Hyperboreas in North America) are very similar to the Be Quiets but for less money, they also have a much higher static pressure rating. Enermax's T.B.Silence series have a varying amount of noise, CFM and static pressure ratings depending on specific model.

 

My general requirements for a quiet fan are less than 20dB and more than 50CFM. Anything less than 50CFM is pointless IMO.

No they aren't? They work perfectly fine and blow substantial enough air even at the 5v setting. I used them for awhile until I switched to NF-A14's

Had an R4 and those fans were definitely anemic compared to other fans I own.

I have an R4 now and can assure you they were not, you must've had an issue on your end or restricted air flow in some way. I was actually surprised when switching to AF-14's and seeing that they were very similar albeit slightly louder.
