Playing Counter Strike over 4g.....

Keudn

Our internet went down today so I got a little creative. My computer is in the basement, and in our basement there is 0 phone signal, but upstairs you can get great signal. So I took my nexus 5 and my macbook pro upstairs, usb tethered them together, shared the internet connection over wifi, and then switched my computer from ethernet to the wifi card (thank god I bought that). The most pathetic thing EVER is that after doing all that I get a 8mbps down/1 up connection and 100ms of ping in counterstrike, ITS ACTUALLY PLAYABLE D:. My home internet that is down gets 5 down/1 up and 70ms ping! #sadstateofUSbroadband.....

TL:DR My phone gets a better internet connection than my actual internet connection....

4G Can actually have quite good Ping. I've had 4G Ping at 30-40ms in a "Double Speed" 4G Area in the UK. Didn't have a gaming PC with me to test its connection but was impressive.

I've played bf4 on my phone with 4g before. Only having two bars and it worked fine. It's not too surprising but it does come in handy when your internet goes down for a bit. Especially since online fps doesn't use much data at all. I think bf4 used like 40mb an hour. :D

It works for sure, but the reliability is pretty bad, you might lose signal from time to time.

Yeah, but i still might consider using 4g over my internet connection even when it is working for downloads

Well aren't you special! Here I am with 3gb lol. But I really don't even need 1gb. I use wifi all the time unless the internet goes down.

My landlord pays for a crappy 5mb connection at my appartments shared between 12 apartments. I was grandfathered into the unlimited data. So when the 4g rolled out I still get unlimited 4g and tether to my cell with around 35mbps down and 5mbps up with around 50-60 ping.
