PC Cleaning Horror Thread

I dont have pics, but i was at my grandma's house for the weekend, and made the mistake of looking inside her pc. It hasn't been cleaned once since she got it in 2004-2005, so there were literally handfulls of dust under the front panel, not to mention inside the case. I can honestly say i have never had an experience like this and hopefully never will again.

I opened up a school computer once to find an empty bag of chips and a pen in the floppy drive.

I've seen too many people try to shove stuff into the front intake fan... One tried to with a Doritos bag and it got stuck.

Once I was trying to figure out what was going on with the client's PC and, when I turned it on, a (few) capacitor(s) from the PSU "exploded", letting a white smoke out of the PSU for about 20 seconds. The whole room was in a white gaze and I was so scared that the fire alarm would go off and the sprinklers would start to... *sprinkle*.

Once I opened all the windows from the entire floor and prayed that the sprinklers wouldn't go off, I put the case on the table and opened it up...

There were a few nests of cockroaches, ants, gnomes and the Lich King.

The owner of the computer, a fine 60ish year old lady had a dozen of cookie jars on her table and I suddenly realized they were her pets.

So yeah, food on the floor close to the computer case and a hot place for them to live that was always turned on, it was insect paradise.

The funniest thing was that, when I showed the screaming lady the case, she said something like: "It's you IT guys' fault! Why don't you keep our PCs clean? Do you even work bro?". I bitchslapped her on the face and walked away like a boz.

With all these windowed cases becoming popular, it'll be nice to see a few years, all the new dust pics. People will just watch the dust accumulate. "Well...It's running fine. I'll clean it tomorrow."

My ex-friends pc..

The insides were caked with thick nicotine dust. Could barely see the components

If I open a PC and see that, I just closed it back up and give it back, ain't touching it.

It's disguting and smells awful, then you power it up and the smell gets worse. How anyone can live with that is beyond me, but hey, that's smokers for you, they are disgusting to begin with.

You'd think you'd have learned to take a break from those kinds of "jokes."

DAT cable management tho...

shut up, there is no cable management in the case. I ended shoving the extra cables in a spare optical drive slot.
