Custom windows theme changes

I have a custom windows 7 theme I got off deviantart and I want to make a few changes to it. Problem is I can't get the theme to save any of my changes so once I select a new theme the custom one reverts back to the creators default. Right click: save theme yields nada. Anybody know a workaround for this?
