Just boot the PC off the DVD and install. If you want to continue using Linux (have 2 OSs on the same PC) you have to reinstall the GRUB bootlaoder using rescure media.

But the problem is I dont have a USB or disk that can hold the uncompressed ISO.

Does the PC have a DVD drive? Do you have a blank DVD?

Well, they're pretty cheap and you can pick one up from almost anywhere. Also, you don't have a 4GB USB drive?

I do have a 4GB USB drive but I have tried using it and the install kept crashing.

Interesting. Did you use the Windows 7 USB tool (it also works with 8)?

Yes.

Hmm, quite interesting. I suggest you pick up a blank DVD and burn the ISO to it.

There is no way to possible mount the ISO from within linux and run the installer from there?

Nope, a full install requires one to boot from the disc.

I dont know if I want to risk the installer failing again, should I just try it with the 4GB? Also, could I run the installer from within windows XP?

Nope, you can only do an in-place install to 7 from Vista. Are you using the official Windows 7 ISO?

Sorry, forgot we're talking about 8 :D

Anyway, here's a link to the official 8.1 ISO. https://www.google.ee/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB4QFjAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Ffile%2Fd%2F0B5mkRoxIcTA2MWl2UkkzMlFYYjA%2Fedit&ei=d90AVIn5JeuO7QbF94GAAQ&usg=AFQjCNFdBjgeWDOV2MBgRM9WG2eZuzzFKg&sig2=dkNslaqADYtjV_qErFO9Ug

It has a download quota, so you might not be able to download right now. If you can't. try again in 24 hours.
