LG G3 Review/Opinions! With Pictures!(not high res sorry!)

Hello and good day everyone!

Introduction and Unboxing/Contents:

Today I shall be reviewing the LG G3, from my aspect of things. First lets start with the packaging, the packaging is pretty standard as other smart phones, opens up via sliding the top off, then you are greeted by the Phone, after taking out the phone, you open a tab which reveals the charger, adapter, user manual and the headset. Which is fairly stand, however the box design was very elegant and I did like the look of it.

Design:

After taking the device out, we are greeted by a nice simplistic design with the rear buttons and the slim bezels, and overall clean look front, thanks to its slim design, I got the Black model because I preferred it and it made the device look very sleek. The aluminium feeling brushed plastic also felt great in the hand and did not feel cheap, unlike other plastic handphones. The 5.5 inch display was actually pretty easy to manage, it felt like any other 5.1-5.2 inch phone, and when I compared it to my friends Z1, it was actually a bit smaller, which was great and it felt really comfortable, even for one handed operation.

The back buttons were easy to get used to, and actually took me less than a day to get used to them, though I do prefer just tapping on the screen to make the device sleep or to wake it, the sides were clean with nothing on them, the top had the IR blaster, and the bottom had the USB and headphone jack. The Speakers on the back, were a bit disappointing, I understand why they put it their, as to keep the bezels slim, but even the 1Amp speaker they advertise is not as good as something like a HTC One m8 with front facing speakers.

So overall for design I would give the G3 a 9/10, as I really love the look of it and it feels great in hand, just some things could have been better.

Software:

For software I won't go to deep into it, because I don't have much to say, the UI is very simplistic, really did like it, thought that if I got it, that I would have to immediately install a launcher, but to a pleasant surprise, I actually liked it, and use it, since I did get a bit bored of using stock like roms or launchers. The notification bar was actually pretty ok, would still have preferred to have my quick toggles, but it is not that bad, some features in the quick settings I did turn off, because I don't use them, but I did keep the quick remote and q slide apps, because I do use them from time to time, so it was a nice addition.

My phone did not come with a lot of bloat-ware, since our carriers do not really do that, but LG's apps were there, which I don't use, except the LG Smart world, because it allows for the changing of keyboard themes and other things like home-screen which was ok, but the rest I just used the in-built feature in the app drawer to hide them. The settings is also very clean and easy to use, and the option to swap views is just great, since I do prefer to have list view. The Messaging app, Dialler and contacts were ok, the ui was not bad, and I did like them, but the ability to send a reply you just got without opening messaging or opening the notification tray is very nice, makes replying to a text much faster, and I give props to LG for that.

So overall software experience is pretty positive, the phone does have its occasional lag, but I don't really mind, so I give it a 8.2/10

Quick Circle Case:

The quick circle case for the G3 is something I picked up because I was interesting in the function of it, not so much of protection because I do tend to be careful with hand-phones in general, plus the circle functionality really caught my interest. The apps you first get stock with the phone for it is pretty basic, that contains a music player, way to read texts, call logs and camera, but if you install an app, called Quick Circle apps on the Play store, the functionality increases with the ability to dial numbers, use the calculator, use the in-built torch, read news via a specific app and it even has a compass, now I just use the Dialler, calculator and one or too more that come with it, otherwise the rest I just leave it, but it does add a lot of feature to it, and it is a must have if you own this case.

The Design and material of the case, is very nice, it has this fabric texture, making it feel nice in the hand and it adds grip, which the stock back cover does not really give, the quick circle case just clips on to the back of the phone as a replacement to the other back cover and it does offer wireless charging though I have not tested it yet.

So Overall for design and Functionality for the case I would give it a 9.4/10, because I absolutely love it.

So overall, for the whole phone experience and the design and the overall, I give it a 8.7/10, as it is a really amazing device to use, thanks for reading, this is my first time writing a review so I do apologise if I miss something and I will try to improve something with your feedback and edit things and improve my future review articles.

I would have bought and LG G2 at the time if it had a stylus, but it didn't so I went with Note 3.

G3 looks like a great phone but I hear it overheats and throttles itself. And the battery life is not so great. Can you confirm if any of that is true?

Had my G3 for 4 weeks now. Didn't get an overheating warning yet. Intensive tasks though it gets pretty warm near the camera area. But the phone never felt slow. It does become a little laggy but only when you're multitasking. As for the battery life, it's actually pretty good. I usually browse or use apps, so I always manage to have some battery left at the end of the day.

Erm, I used my phone for messaging and calling today, still have 70+% batt left, though I was in school most of the time, but otherwise it will survive a day, and the overheating is rubbish, been gaming alot on it, does not affect at all

To me it is worth it, but I would rather get a Nexus 5 for the stock experince and fast updates. But I did not get a Nexus 5 since the G3 was cheaper on contract.
