Anyone that tells me to put the old one back in i lost it (AKA MISSING NON EXISTANT THAT IS WHAT "I have no cpu fan at all" MEANS

could get something from cooler master vortex or x dream

For an OEM replacement you shouldn't be paying that much. Gelid Siberian and Arctic Alpine 11 do the job just as well for a lot cheaper

There's no point though. If he was looking for a performance upgrade he won't get one, he should just get some fresh thermal paste and reapply the old one.

That's what I'm wondering. Where did the old one go?

Assuming that OP lost/broke the old one though and they aren't overclocking then those are better choices then spending more money for a better cooler since it's an older platform

Yeah.

A 212 Evo would do fine.

Why a 212 Evo? People need to stop suggesting 212 Evo for everything, because in this case with a very outdated platform plus a non-overclocking CPU, a 212 Evo is an even less appropriate choice then the Cooler Master X-Dream that @Bubblewhale suggested, which are basically 775 Intel stock coolers where Cooler Master painted the fans and slapped their logo on it.

The 212 Evo is fantastic though.

I still maintain that he should either put the cooler back on or get a new stock one.

It's a great cooler but it's not an appropriate suggestion for some situations, such as this one
