Am I stupid for buying a 1440p monitor

I only have a GTX 780 but I decided to buy a really good priced 1440p monitor. Would I be able to play some games on medium at least... I probably will SLI eventually.

no, you can max out most games with playable framerates.

a 780 is an extremely good match for 1440p in a few years you might be playing at medium but right now except to be playing on at least high.

Meh not really, sure you can't max out all your games just yet but it doesn't have the scaling issues that 4K has and is a pretty significant step up from 1080p and with 4K content already here like House of Cards you can take advantage of some of those pixels on the cheap so I say it was a great buy.

Have everything set to atleast high and reduce the AA to something like x2 as it's not as necessary at 1440p and will give you a few extra frames, however once you get another 780 then you can easily crank all those settings up on just about any game.
