Guys, I need some mobile phone advice :)

jem.graham

Hey guys,

My Galaxy S3 contract runs out in October/November so I need to be doing some research into what my next phone should be.

I know everybody would like a OnePlus One, but as of yet, I'm not one of the lucky ones to have of obtained an invite.

What I would want in my new phone:

Large-ish display, 5"+

3000mAh+ Battery

2/3GB RAM

Easily customisable, Root + Custom roms.

My thoughts so far:

LG G3 (I've looked into rooting/custom roms and there doesn't seem to be much available)

Nexus 6/X (We shall have to wait for it's release)

HTC One M8

New Moto X (X+1?)

Thanks guys :)

Jem

I know on ebay you could basically get a LG G3 for about under 400 GBP bro at least last I saw it was listed/for auction for 350 but nobody bidded

I'd have to go with the Moto X+1 right now.

Motorola is usually pretty stellar with battery life, and this one has a pretty substantial 2900mah rumored battery.

It should also have front facing speakers and come with a close to stock Android, both of which are huge pluses.

On top of that you can customize it with the MotoMaker. Which I love the thought of.

I wouldn't wait for the Nexus 6. Who knows how long that'll take.

I know most people will fanboy out for the HTC M8, but I find the phone a little too large for only having a 5" screen.

The opposite side from the SIM tray, uses the same tool to eject.

Currently I have a 32GB SanDisk Ultra Plus in it. The cameras are not too bad actually, and the slip is easily, though not happily, remedied with a case.

Get the LG G2/G3. It fits all of your criteria, especially the easily rootable category. There's a program (IORoot) that does it for you. It's so simple, and only takes a minute to do.

Did you recived the latest update to 2.23.118.3 ? If yes, how is the phone acting because a user in this forum reports that is hot and laggy. I just did the update but the phone seems ok.

I did the update and it is doing just fine.

Oneplus one should be really easy to get an invite by october.

Or maybe z3 might be a good phone too if you're interested in that but it probably won't come to US for awhile so the z2 is another option thats really solid.

Thanks everyone for your input, but I'm now very torn between the G3 and the One M8, such a difficult decision.

Again, thanks guys:)

LG did say they will provide a boot unlocker, which will allow more roms for it, so there is that, plus the G3 is actually very nice to use, it is pretty comfortable if you have somewhat of medium sized hands
