Windows 7 Updates backup?

I will have to reinstall Windows 7 soon, and I was really curious if it is possible to back up currently installed updates so that you don't have to download them again. I have limited data, so this would be really nice to know. OS is (and will be again) Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. I use it on a Pentium 4 which isn't x86_64, so that's why it's just a 32-bit OS.

Wouldn't backing up the update be the same idea as just backing up the whole OS as they're intertwined once downloaded and installed?

This OS is kinda... Well... Totally fucked.

I figured as much; but updates aren't standalone things...they're patched onto the OS. So, I can't imagine there being anyway to backup just the updates. 

 

I feel like the easiest thing would be to clone an hdd with a good copy of windows on it, and then try and make it work with that computer. 

 

Or, you could always bring the computer to a Starbucks :P

ergh im going to buy a new ssd larger and better in a few month this thread just reminded me of the shit im going have to go through as i want a fresh install, ergh 500gb of games.

I believe the pfSence can do it. And I've heard of this thing called "offline updates" but never used it.

If Microsoft released a service pack for it, that would have SOME of the updates in it and safe time, not so much sure of the download it would save.

There are ISO's floating around that have them slipstreamed but you have to be willing to take the chance with that.

This won't solve your problem of needing to download the updates but once you do get them all downloaded onto a fresh install I highly suggest you make a clone of the operating system to an external harddrive or something similar so next time you reinstall Windows you don't have to do updates and you can just revert back to that clone.

Nope, can't back up updates without backing up the whole OS.

The updates change parts of the OS itself, and they cannot be 'undone'.

This is why you cannot remove updates from windows unless you do a system restore.

My last idea would be to use, Acronis True Image, I think you can make an image with the updates.
