Gaming Oriented Build

hlax2525

I am looking to spend around 1000 USD for my first build. I have been contemplating buying a new PS4 or a gaming computer for a while and the benefits of building my own pc are much better in the long run, and it can be used for many other things. I have come up with two separate builds, one intel and one amd based. Any suggestions are welcome on any parts, thanks in advance for the help.

I would recommend getting a reference GTX 770.  I have a blower style GPU and it just dumps the hot air back into the case.  Especially with that PSU cover, blower-style might not be the best idea.  A reference card will take the air from inside the case and exhaust out.  Just a thought.

what if i was to switch to the fractal design r4? I was torn between the two cases and just realized the h440 has no room for the optical drive, which i am going to add, as i still need to use discs for certain things. would the same card issue stand or no?

I actually have a fractal design r4.  If you really want to keep your same card in the partlists you showed, I'd recommend to have your PSU fan face upward, so that it draws the hot air out of the case.  I did that with my build this morning, and my temps are a lot better.

that looks good, thanks, i was also creating an amd build as well, because this is going to be a more gaming oriented build, with some video editing from the go pro and possibly some work with other programs. If you wouldn't mind, can you take a look at the amd build for me

Not too serious, it would only be light editing if I get a go pro, but besides that none whatsoever

Here's an altered list of your AMD build.  You could opt for a FX-9370 and an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 and still be in your budget... but for your purposes... I'd say that this is pretty nice for around $950

not really... actually... you could get a r9 290 at a lower cost than your gtx 770.

I think I should mention that the price right now on the r9 290 I recommended is one of the lowest I've seen.

These are the updated lists, as i made both of them fully modular power supplies, switched the h440 for the r4 and added dvd drives

The second link doesn't work. At least not for me.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

That it does not. That's because I deleted that parts list as I decided to be amd oriented instead of intel, so the first link is the correct one for now

I was trying to keep is as cheap as possible. The only reason I am going to go with amd is because I don't do much editing and you get more for your money. Also I'm not fully decided between the r9 290 I have on there and a gigabyte 770 wind force 4gb
