Looking for 2D game engine-> Top Down-racing-shooter

LOST TALE

I will go test Game Engines until I find one that allows me to create my game.

             ---

Preferences: Free - cross-platform - and general stuff like no shitty limitations on resolution/hz/control settings,

                -------

I'm also looking for places/people that might inform me better. So while you may not have the best answer, good referencing is also appreciated.

Perhaps there is a better forum for this?

You can also relevant comment on the indirect sources I've already found.

Sources I've looked at:

-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQyc655gSnU

-http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17584717/2d-cross-platform-game-development-engines

I'm not a programer. so that option isnt very appealing.

You won't get far for this one simple fact. You could try Construct 2. It's got a free version, make the game to the best of your ability. Make a Kickstarter or Indiegogo for it, let people fund you for covering a business licence ($429.99). Then you can mass produce the game for several platforms and profit.

It's a very powerful and versatile tool. There are good tutorials on YouTube and Lynda.com that can guide you through creating your first game.

What kind of coding? If you're referring to programming I doubt anyone will spend the next 6-12 months teaching you how to code daily.

It looks like MonkeyX only caters to 2D games. Unity can do both 2D and 3D. If you're looking to make one simple one-time game, MonkeyX is probably what you would want to use. Tho if you actually want to take a step into game development, Unity is far more powerful and a more widely used engine. So if you wanted to eventually get into making 3D games, you're better off starting to learn Unity.
