Is it just me or?

Gauzl

Is the difference between 1080p and 1440p in games just unnoticeable? On a 27" monitor.

I have a 1440p 27" panel. I turned down to 1080p once to see the difference, and it was horrible.

Yeah but 1080p on a native 1440p always looks horrible especially compared to a native 1080p monitor.

It is because the pixels dont scale correctly.

What's exaggerated? If your referring to me saying 1080p on a 1440p monitor looks horrible it does, a native 1080p monitor looks perfectly fine up to 27".

I thought he meant the difference between a 1080p 27" panel and a 1440p 27" panel, which would be 100% noticable

That said I have proved before that running a game in 1080p on a 1440p panel works just fine (though not perfect) at least on my display, though I would never do this

Just so you guys know I'm asking about the difference between NATIVE 1080p and 1440p gaming, not just on a native 1440p monitor.

Native 1080p at 27" is playable, but 1440p at 27" is a much sharper experience, to me it is night and day

1080p is 2073600 pixels

1440p is 3686400 pixels

There is a ton more detail in 1440p and edges and details are a lot sharper

On 27" Native 1440p vs 1080p the difference is not huge in terms of looks.

Yeah I mean now i have a 1440p panel its fucking amazing!

And it is noticeable but people exaggerate how bad it is. Sure it does not look as good, but it is not as bad as putting knives into your eyes like people make out

I still stand by 1080p up to 24" and 1440p 27" to 30", 30" + 4k

How much less nessecary is AA at 1440p? Im playing the metro redux and am still tampering with the video settings to get that good balance between visuals and frame rate.

Slightly less necessary , though I still like at least 2x AA, Try turn off PHYSX and Tessellation

Why turn them off? I know what PHYSX does bit no idea what tessellation does.
