Openoffice is pretty much shit.

 

Libreoffice is good. Google Docs is okay.

ive never been a big fan. id rather have the documents local :S and ive never had a great experience working with drive, always kinda let me down when i needed it most (on due dates, etc...)

If you can, Google Drive or Office Online (wich is free if you have a MS account).

 

If you need a local program Libre Office or Kingsoft Office are good alternatives.

LibreOffice is good enough... and unlike google drive, you won't need to be connected to the internet to use it...

You should definitely try out LibreOffice. It is, in my humble opinion, the best offline office suite.

I use LibreOffice to open offline documents (doc, xls, etc) and Google Drive when creating new documents.
