Noctua fan help please! Name,Placement etc

Still need help!

Update: I Had a look at my retailers webby and i found 8 different fans of the black noctua variant. 2 of them was 3 pin connectors and stuck on 2000rpm so i assume i dont want those.

Then im now stuck on the last 6 fans (half of which seems to be the same fan just 120mm instead of 140mm)

and since ill go for 140mm due to better noise level and airflow theres only 3 fans left to choose which is:

3. https://www.komplett.no/noctua-nf-a14-ippc-3000-pwm-140mm-vifte/816910

Now which do i choose and why?

---------------------------

I am about to buy some BLACK Noctua fans for my currently define r4

I heard theres all different types of fans for different things and im confused.

I need to know what fans i need, Best placement for the fans and a way to choose fan speeds. Im going to run them pretty quiet.

As far as i know my mobo have 6 fan connectors? Help me on this: I think I need 2 intake in front, 1 intake in bottom and 1 outtake in the back for positive air pressure?

Pc specs::

Define r4

Asus Crosshair v formula z

Fx 8350 with Be Quiet Dark rock 2 cpu cooler

Asus 780ti DCU2

Asus 750ti STRIX

PSU Corsair RM850

2 Kingston hyper x 240/120 SSD

3TB HDD

Later im building a square laying sort of box case, some designs i come up with so far: http://i.imgur.com/dqv2iYM.png (glass top/front)

- Feel free to help me with the design.

i will almost definetly get 6 fans for the new case (are they going to be the same type?)

Do you really need it for those 6 fans your maybe getting 1-2 degree diffrence

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

There isn't much to know about fans :P just check in your case manual what size you need for your case e.g My case can mount 2 x 140mm Fans on the front, 1 x 140mm on the back etc..

And thats all you need to know regarding if they will fit.

Just make sure you install them correctly (Whether they will be exhaust fans or intakes)

I would consider the NFA14's

Arrange them with two intakes front, one intake bottom, and one exhaust back, as you had it.

Front intake: F12's, Generally I always go for pressure optimised fans for the front intake because they get cool air to the GPU better than airflow optimised fans. However, the fact that the R4 is restricted by (IMO) poor design thanks to the front panel this case needs it anyway.

Bottom intake and rear exhaust: P12's or S12A's

I'm aware the case can fit 140mm fans but they don't really have an advantage (especially with Noctua's selection of fans) unless your looking for an ultra quiet build.

If you want to use 140mm fans then use the A14's.

Noctua Fans are Pwm that means they have the 4 pin connector. These will plug into your Motherboard and they adjust their speed automatically ( When the temperature goes up they spin faster..)

1. There are 3 different types of that fan and i have no idea which one to choose. No idea the differences. The rpm is pretty self explained but the 2 2000 rpm looks almost identical and i have no ideaaaa

2. Ty for helping with the fan placement. Will do exactly that.

I have no idea how to know if a fan is pressure optimised or whatnot?

The Pc only uses parts that is low noise optimised so yes i do want 140mm fans but now im stuck on 3 different fans that is 140mm and cant decide. These are the only 140mm fans the retailer i use have.

Basically it's out of the last 2. The only difference is the maximum RPM, the second one spins up to 2000 RPM and the third one spins up to 3000 RPM.

The first one is kinda pointless as it has waterproofing, it's also dust tight but the fans should be dust proof anyway. You'd just be paying for something you don't need with the first one.

To tell a pressure optimised fan from a airflow optimise you look at the fan blades. Or you could go the easy route and look up the specs for the fan. Pressure optimised fans have wider fins (which usually results in less blades compared to an air flow optimised model of the fan but this isn't always the case) and less spacing between the fin and the frame (see spoiler for a better representation). With Noctua there isn't much choice between the two in the 140mm line-up.
