Steam now allows multiple downloads, about time!

AFAIK it already does.

 

 

I'm really happy to see this added, I think they should have done it a long time ago, you've always been able to do this by manually clicking install on more than one game, it then just queued them and did them one after the other, this just looks like some kind of checklist UI.

Actuaaly you can, and you dont have to minimize and stuff, just go to the options of the game you're playing, updates...Background updates and then select "allow background downloads" easy, and now it downloads when your are playing the game where you change this option ( you can do it so it affects all games in general, but i dont remember how

Too late for what? For Steam to gain more influence in digital distribution? Steam has way bigger problems at the moment that can damage it.

 

That said it's a nice add-on to the client. And of course it's a feature that should have been part of Steam basically from the start.

I've never had problems downloading games because I have always used the setting stated above.

 

I normally just run the downloads when I am not around so they are done when I come back.

I don't get it. What exactly does this change? I have been able to queue game downloads ever since I started using steam, while playing games.

Could someone explain this to me.

Something else they could add to the download screen is how much your downloading all together. If you had couple 1.7 GB downloads, a 15 GB, a 40 GB it'd show that as 60+ GB (*insert amount*)

 

What this does is let you click and select multiple games to be installed without having to wait for the pop-up to finish, close, select next game, repeat.
