It would fit on the 40GB SSD, but it's best to go for the 60GB SSD.

60gb IMO is the way to go.  I find sometimes programs can only be installed on the C drive like iTunes.

I'd say save up and get a 120 GB one simply cause that'd be putting it in real tight...

40gb is fine for Windows if you really want to you can shrink the windows install down to like 22gb or less

I installed Windows 7 on a 16GB SSD in a CR-48. You can slim it down easy to a 40GB SSD.

And do what?!!!!!!! You guys talking about 40 or 60 are nuts! Absolute minimum is 120 and I'd be scared of that. 256 gb is where I'd start. If you put Win.. any Win on a 60 you'll max that out within 3 weeks and be screaming for a new drive in 3 months after you get tired trying to manage the lack of space.

I lived 8 months on a 60GB Intel 330 perfectly fine. I had to keep tab on stuff though as I was never above 5GB free, usually 2.5GB or less.

Also what are you maxing it out with within in 3 weeks as a OS and programs drive?

Everything wants to be on C: Updates, virus definitions, drivers, temp files, *anything from MS*, etc. Yes, after some contortions you can get some of it off, but you can spend a hell of a lot time trying to make it work. Why? You're saving $50? Really? That's what your time is worth? All the headaches, the constant monitoring and the issue that ssd's don't like being maxed out at the best of times for a one time saving of 50 bucks?

Tell me more.

With mine I'm at 55 gb and that took less than 3 weeks with my new build. That's with all the standard optimizations and as many apps off it that I could do. Page file on my hdd, no hibernation or indexing, fonts on another drive... the usual. Now I'm on Win7 pro which is a pig but it was surprisingly fast. It looks like it settled down and that is where it's going to hover for a while but that's fine. I rarely monitor it and never worry. The drive was $110 and that's a bargain. Why give yourself headaches?
