First time builder. I would like someone to look over and comment on the components I chose. Thanks!

theNewFifty2

I am currently trying to build a pc with these components:

CPU Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

Memory G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX Video Card

Case Thermaltake Versa H23 ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply Thermaltake Smart 630W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

However, I'm still not sure if I should get the Asus Z97-A or the Msi Z97 Gaming 5.

What do you guys suggest?

Also do you think I should upgrade my CPU choice from i5-4690K to i7-4790K? Or is i5-4690K ok?

Any other comments about the other components will be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

EDIT: Also, would you suggest that I get a USB Wirless Adapter or a PCI Wireless Adapter Card. Thanks again

1 - You should run 2 sticks of ram for dual channel mode, 2x 4GB is better than 1x 8GB unless you plan on getting a 2nd 8GB stick to put it later.

2 - It's best to get at least a 250gb SSD, as you'll be tearing your hair out at the lack of space, since ~20GB is taken up by Windows alone

3 - An R9 280 is about ~$25 more than the GTX 760, and will be a much better choice, for the performance

The 4690k is a good choice, and the MSI mobo is the one i'd go for mate.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

The fella has the partpicker links set to US, so i'd guess he's in the US.

Hey there, do you need the PC for normal everyday use?  If this is the case the WD Blue HDD is a good choice.

If you plan to use the rig for either gaming or photo/video editing you can also check the WD Black drive which has larger cache and will decrease the load times.

In case you are interested you can check it here:

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I just read the guidelines.

Budget is around $1200

Location: I'm from the Philippines actually

Uses: Mostly Gaming. But I'm also in Software Development. I'm planning on studying animating and enhancing my software development skills as well.

Monitors: Just 1 for now until maybe a couple more years.

Peripherals: I got the mouse and keyboard covered, however, I'm still not sure what works better, wireless adapter card or a usb wireless adapter.

Thanks

Thanks man.

1. I plan on adding another 8 gb of ram soon.

2. Ok I will consider that. However, I'm thinking of just having an OS and some of my most liked apps/games in the SSD and the rest of my apps/games will be on the Hard Drive, is that a bad idea?

3. Thanks, I will consider that as well. Will that be compatible with either boards though (Asus Z97-A and MSI Z97-A Gaming 5)?

Thanks. Mostly gaming and a bit of software development. Might try animating and video editing but not really in to that as of the moment.

I will check the Black one out. Thanks very much!

Sweet!!

Thanks! I'll definitely go with the PCI Wireless card now, any recommended brands?

What do I need to look out for? It needs to support Wireless-N right?

Just wondering, what are the advantages of the components you chose over the ones I did? More specifically, the RAM, SSD, HD, VideoCard, and PSU.

Thanks very much.

asus, rosewill and tplink are all good brands id get this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/tp-link-wireless-network-card-tlwdn4800 not sure what you mean by the second question sadly. as for the parts well the cpus the same but has a after market cooler for over clocking and the motherboard supports it, rams nicer looking same goes for the case and power supply and the 290 just stomps the 760 its pretty much equal to the 780

Aye, it requires a PCI-E socket which every modern board has.

As for the storage questions - you can get by with a 120GB SSD, but you will run out of space very fast.
