21:9 apsect ratio monitor?

Hi I want to buy a new monitor and I'm really interested in the 21:9 aspect ratio. At my local electronic store, I have these monitors:

AOC Q2963PM for 361.37 + tx  post-68110-0-99217700-1409110021_thumb.j post-68110-0-10975000-1409110060_thumb.j

Asus MX299Q for 591.46 + tx   post-68110-0-47543800-1409110011_thumb.j post-68110-0-55106400-1409110054_thumb.j

LG 29UM65-P for 512.07 + tx post-68110-0-70410600-1409110035_thumb.j post-68110-0-05364900-1409110052_thumb.j .

One of my goals for the new setup I want to build is to get a 21:9 monitor, ever sinc I saw Linus' video. Furthermore, I know that I can get these monitors cheaper online but that was just for a general idea and I wish that I could but the 31UM65 is WAY to expensive (even the Asus one. I can get LG's for a bit more thaN AOC's). What do you reccomend? Thank you!

They're all IPS so just get the one that is the size you want and fits your budget.

through doing  about 20~ minutes of research on the web, I can only find 2 comprehensive reviews on the aoc and none on the others. The aoc monitor seems to score quite well in everything but black luminescence (something which most monitors fall short at) and compared quite nicely to some of the 400$+ competition. Since the aoc is the only one I can find a REAL scientific review on I'd recommend the aoc model right now, or you could wait a few weeks for the next quarter when hopefully there will be more releases and hopefully a 1440p 21:9 monitor.

The thing is that now, there is a sale on the AOC's monitror. And it's the cheapest. Should i just go for it?

Just a little heads-up, the AOC monitor should be a great choice, BUT the build-quality has been a bit sketchy in the video reviews I could find (mostly at the top of the plastic borders), you might wanna tjek it out before buying :)

Let us know how you like it (if you buy), I'm planning to go 29" 21:9 myself :)

Horrible picture below but I have the AOC and the Acer 21:9 panels. I like the Acer one better as it has more on board adjustment even though I think both of them are using the same panel. I use Spyder to adjust color anyway so they get pretty close in the end anyway. But I love the aspect ratio for the productivity.

Current Setup the bottom monitor is Acer 2560x1440p with the two 21:9 as secondary.

But I tried the two 21:9 setup and it was actually nice as well

Noob question here, I can't seem to find the answer to my question in google so I might as well ask in this 21:9 thread.

Hmm I was wondering if you can split the 21:9 ratio screens to 3 Divisions. I'd like to game only on 1/3 of the screen(middle) while doing something else on left or right. Is that possible?

Because if it's a No, then I'd probably just go with a dual monitor set-up.

With software and setting you could I use DisplayFusion http://www.displayfusion.com/. You can setup 3 splits in the screen and in monitor properties it will show them as three different monitors. Then if you use full screen boarder-less settings in game it should work as you are thinking. I could try that tonight and let you know if it works. But the size will be pretty small.. It would be something like 853x1080 which is not 4:3 aspect.

Nice but seems like the resolution and aspect ratio is bad. Thanks for the reply, hmm let me know if it works especially that gaming in the middle while doing something on left and right. Thanks! :D

So I got it! And I really Like it! Some friends told me to wait for 2560x1440p models to come out but I don't want these models cause it's porbably gonna be very expensive. I adjusted every settings according to tom's hardware review (cause who am i not to follow a professionnal monitor reviewer). Furthermore, I read on Newegg that a lot of perople got dead pixels, I did some tests and I was happy to see that I don't have any dead pixels! The size is perfect for me (so I realized that the lg 31UM95 was WAY too big) and it fits perfectly on my desk, having enough space to put my rig behind the monitor. I am going to add a stand or something like that since I'm planing to build a new system and this entire new system will be on the stand behind th monitor. I get it by what you mean by a kinda cheap build quality but it doesn't really bother me since I got it for a VERY good price (365$) and I won't really touch the monitor's frame since it's in an ideal location. The only thing I kinda miss from my old TN panel was the fast 2 ms response time, but i would rather have an IPS display aover a fast TN any day. Color reproduction is very good, actually awesome, and I get it why Linus always says that he prefers IPS over TN even for gaming. Hopefully I will be able to make another thread for my next build but it is going to take some time since I'm only 16 years old, I don't work and I spent nearly everything I had for this monitor.

Here are some pictures taken from my phone, YES i know they arn't great but still, you can have an Idea.

BTW, ZeferiniX, AOC includes their own splitting software, although I think display fusion is much better!

I forgot One thing, I was a bit disappointed since there were two cables missing in ther box, the MHL and the DVI (I'm not sure displayport iis included). I am going this thursday at Staples to get them. Here is a better picture of the monitor. And Galgotha, I REALLY like your steup, might do it like this one day. And what is the acer monitor?

I am using two VIVO VESA mounts a single swivel desk mounted #STAND-V001 and dual stacked stand mount #STAND-V002L . You can find them on Amazon.

Acer monitor models I am using are K272HUL and B296CL.

Looks good, migio!

I was considering going with the MX299Q for awhile, but when I actually went to a store and saw a 21:9 (the LG model) in person, the vertical real estate looked much less than I thought it would be, so I decided to go with the MX279H. Still, if someone were to buy me a 21:9 monitor I'd be ecstatic! If there will be good 21:10 monitors at a reasonable price in the coming years, then I'll consider an ultrawide. I'd much rather have that than multiple monitors, no distracting bezels.

That said, Galgotha's setups in the pictures above are pretty awesome!
