hp website shows that laptop being one of the suspected requiring replacement. Check if your's shows LS-15

Thanks a lot for the info. Actually my friend is going to buy that laptop. I will suggest him a Lenovo laptop in the same price range with a GT 840M.

These are power cords, my guess is that they cheaped out and used a lower gauge wire, which couldn't handle the amperage they were trying to deliver safely.
