Parents and Video Games

FloRolf

Sooooo,

i already got my mom to the point where she wants to try Portal (we suggested it since its pretty much the best game ever made) but now i have the following problem:

I don't want to buy it for her (cause i want her to try some other games too :P) and i don't want to give her my steam account directly PLUS her Notebook is crap and wouldn't even handle it but she would prefer gaming on her notebook over gaming on my rig (while i'm at work)

So i thought i would:

1. Create a Steam Account for her

2. Give her Account full access to my games (Family Share)

3. Log into her account on my PC

4. Log into her account on her Laptop

5. Start Gamestream on my PC

6. Game on her Laptop

7. Profit.

Do you think there's a better way to do it or is this the non plus ultra for my case?

Greetings! :)

^Dis shiz is solved.

my dad and i used to play halo together (coop of course). and he actually played a lot of wizards and warriors, mist, and tons of panzer general when i was younger. but ive never been able to get him into newer faster paced games since he just cant keep up with all the information.

My parents are dead. Otherwise, I bet they could enjoy some video game. My dad would play them with me even when he didn't understand it because he was awesome.

Not sure about my mom. She probably would just stick to Tetris (She played it ALL the time on PSX).

Should work. Might not run at max settings (there is a decent amount of processing the PC has to do that is being streamed to), so keep that in mind. You'll also want to make sure you have decent network speeds and latencies.

And my dad plays GTA V, so deal with it.

If she begins to rely on this method to play games, it may interfere with your PC time.

Keep in mind steam game streaming is not perfect. I personally couldn't make it playable due to my router.

My dad used to play alot of Quake and Wolfenstein on PC and metal gear solid on playstation. Sadly it's hard to find time to play games as you get older. I am starting to realize this my self.

My dad is a technophobe that says more then once a month "technology is just a tool". And my mom says it makes her sick and she doesn't really like violence all that much, which takes out shooters and racing games. Which are most of the games I have on console. Mostly shooters on PC.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

My dad is great, the two of us can spend hours playing FIFA and F1 on the play station, and he will even go online on F1, but won't like to play many other games. I did get him to have a go of BF3 however, but it didn't go all too well. My mum will never game. She is one of those people who thinks gaming is the bane of humanity and can't stand it. She's that bad a gamer she can't even get past 1 on flappy bird and can't complete the first level of angry birds.

My dad used to play games a long time ago (before I was born) the only 2 I know he played were Myst and Morrowind.

My mom will occasionally play Tetris (she played it a lot in college so shes really good) but thats pretty rare and will really only play if she is playing with someone else to compete against.

My dad used to 24/7 on his laptop for a long time, he even played Half Life and Half Life 2. I bet I could get him playing again, but he has an old Asus laptop running a i5 480M... I know he won't buy a new one even though he wants to. He has a LOT of money that just collects from his job, but chooses not to spend much of it. Seriously, on my birthday the only present I got were ATH-T400's for $30 that I had bought... The next day they take $200 from my savings for my computer and bought my older brother a car... :( Sorry about that getting a little off-topic.
