Monitor dedicated for mobile phone

Zonalar

(If this is in the wrong subsection, i apologice. I didn't know where to put it. Displays? Mobile devices? so i put it into general discussion)

Hey guys.

So, here's the scenario. I have a girlfriend who has nothing in common with technology. But she does own a Samsung Galaxy 5.

So I was thinking "Isn't it possible to just setup a monitor and use the phone to watch movies over the phone-> monitor?"

And if so, do I need a full fledged PC to do that? I kind of want to avoid introducing her to the world of pc (it may be inevidable.). Simply because i want everything to keep as simple as possible for her.

If I could just hang up a monitor, and detect it with my phone over bluetooth or such, and watch movies that way? Wouldn't that be sick? :D

So that's what I'm aiming for. Is it possible? What would I need? Are there better ways of doing this?

Thank you so much for your time and ideas. :)

Zonalar

Edit: There is no WiFi in her home, she has an Abo with her phone provider that provides her with internet though. The building she lives in has no internet at all (I know right???).

Just connect your phone to the TV / monitor via HDMI

Or use a wireless dongle with miracast or similar

You can even get a bluetooth controller for games, or a wireless mouse and keyboard

you could buy a small samsung Tv and you screen mirroring ( has to be a newer version).

or i believe the s5 you can convert the USB 3 port into hdmi and go down the route.

or you can even use samsung's S Beam or Nearby Devices ( again requires Samsung Compatible Tv)

As expected, half of the suggestions i ahve to look up first to understand what it is x) Could i get a short (or long) explanation on: Miracast; S Beam; Chromecast?

And yes, I'm also googling atm to figure it out myself. But you are the experts here :)

Edit: There is no WiFi in her home, she has an Abo with her phone provider that provides her with internet though. The building she lives in has no internet at all (I know right???).

If there is no wifi at all in her building, then I don't think she will be able to use some of ideas that were discussed by other users, such as a chromecast.

She probably could use an MHL cable, which is essentially just a display cable to connect mobile devices to a larger display, kind of like a micro-usb to hdmi cable.

If she doesn't want to deal with a clunky cable, I think there are still some options out there. Even though she doesn't have a wireless access point in her house, some devices can still communicate over wifi with each other.
