Bitfenix Nvidia Green theme - TEAM GREEN!

Yoinkerman

Nvidia Green Theme Case, showcasing Bitfenix products and Nvidia colours!

The Goal:  Make a bad ass computer using black/green themed parts, custom modding if needed to maintain overall black/green.  Inspired by the Bitfenix Nvidia GTX mATX case!

The parts:

Bitfenix Nvidia GTX case

Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition

Corsair H60

Avexir Core series green LED 8gb RAM

Gigabyte Z97M-DS3

Bitfenix Fury 550W PSU

3x Bitfenix Aqua 20cm Green LEDs

2x silverstone micro sata cables

MSI GTX 760

As you can see, the vanilla Bitfenix case, while alright, leaves some room to be desired to really scream TEAM GREEN.  So I figured, let's paint the case, mod the front logo, and give a little swag to a few parts on the inside of the case to really bring out the Nvidia hiding deep within.

First, the parts!

DSCN0816_zpsc11964c4.jpg

As you can see, the initial build of the parts without LEDS or mods is alrite, but vanilllllaaaaa :(

DSCN0688_zps548402ed.jpg

So I figured we needed to spice things up, and I chose the case and PSU . . . And the video card.

LAAAAAAAAAAAAME, Right?  So The first thing I decided to do was spice up the video card.  It didn't go so well the first time, the paint peeled and didn't stick at all, as well as bubbled fierce.

So I decided to try again, with much better results!

Next up is the case, The Bitfenix logo screamed I NEED LEDS MAN, so I thought I would accommodate it.  With some Bitfenix LEDs and clear silicone, VOILA!

Turned out pretty good, don't you think!?

The next part of the build is painting the side panels and the power supply.

So I got some custom automotive paint mixed up at the paint store.  This is the only batch of this colour made!

Here is my coworker mixing the paint with paint stuff so it can be sprayed on propery, 1:1 mix!

Prep for painting takes forever!

DSCN0759_zps761dcf3b.jpg

WARNING TRIGGER ALERT, BEYOND THIS POINT THERE ARE HIGHLY ORGASMIC PICTURES OF PAINT FLYING THROUGH THE AIR WITH THE GREATEST OF EASE.

Now that that's out of the way, HOT ACTION PICS

Hot as hell right?

Here is where they are at now.  The edges turned out messy and we're going to try to clean them up by pinstriping the edges in gloss black and a similar green.

20140818_235424_zps7ecfb738.jpg

So now I'm waiting.  In the interim I've installed some LED strips, and a couple of side panel extension cables for this, as whomever designed the side panel cables is a monkey, because they ONLY route across everything in the case.  They aren't long enough to go around, and if you put the panel on the other side everything is up-side down.

20140822_232202_zpse75af134.jpg

Also, these LED strips are ludicrously hard to attach.  They come with some 3m double sided tape, which doesn't stick at all.  I hot glued them into place several times, and most of the glue seems to be sticking now.  Mostly.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bitfenix spectre green led fans arrived today, case panels and psu still need to be pinstriped, and the bitfenix led strips all popped off of the hot glue holding them in place. I think I'm going to need to either clamp the strips flat with a couple of boards or clamp a board down on top of the glue while it hardens, or perhaps silicone the strips in and clamp while they set. Idk. Bitfenixs idea to package them in a circle was terrible.

UPDATES INC OMG

The side panels are pinstriped, and the PSU is as well. I think the PSU turned out the best!

DSCN0884_zps80814ca5.jpg

DSCN0883_zpsdd80e754.jpg

Next up are the side panels, they were pinstriped (painted with a special technique that eliminates brush strokes and allows for really clean lines) with glossy black automotive paint with included hardener, so it should stand up to fingerprints and mild bumps.

DSCN0880_zpsdce64324.jpg

DSCN0872_zps7e6825ea.jpg

Putting them on the case was snap, and here is the result.

DSCN0895_zps5b20ad21.jpg

DSCN0899_zps04edd442.jpg

I also redid the LED strips, after putting a pile of textbooks  on them for a week, they seem to be reasonably flat.  Hot glued them into place, offset so they don't blast out your eye holes.

So now I need to fix the mess of cables, which will probably be the biggest job yet.  I'm going to have to pull the pins out of each connector, pull back the sleeving, cut the wire to length, and then solder and shrink tube the wire back together, then pull back the sleeving, or try to source some new pins and a crimp tool to completely redo every connector.  And then splice and sleeve each of the LED strips, because right now they have 3 individual molex to 2pin adapters that take up a lot of space.  Then somehow monkey the SATA cables to look all pretty too.

Oh and possibly desolder the 24 pin cable from the inside of the PSU so i can cut those cables to length, right now it's like 3 feet long, and needs to be like 8 inches.

EDIT:  oops forgot one!
