How much power do I need for sli?

Go to solution Solved by ZmanFTW,

I also have to agree on the idea of a more powerful single card instead of SLI. Not all games take advantage of SLI...

If I already owned a GTX 760, I would save my money, wait until the GTX 800 series comes out and 700 series prices drop.

Then I would get a GTX 780 or possibly a GTX 870 depending on prices and what I could afford.

I have a Twin Frozr 760 (2 GB) and a 600 watt PSU (CX600M). Can this power supply handle another 760, or will I need to upgrade? If I need to, I will get a bigger psu.

Thanks in advance!

It can take it just about, but I'd recommend 750W as a comfortable minimum.

To be 100% safe for any 2-way SLI/CF config I'd recommend an 850W PSU. EVGA G2 750W/850W are the prime choices for this. However I don't recommend SLI'ing GTX 760. I recommend trying to sell it for a decent amount then upgrading to a single 780 (maybe Ti) or R9 290 (Maybe x) since single powerful graphics card > SLI weaker (Frame time variance, increased power consumption, increased heat). However the GTX 760 SLI will win in a lot of cases over an R9 290 (Unless you OC the R9 290).

GTX 760  = 500W with a +12v rating of at least 30 Amps
SLI GTX 760 = 700W with +12v rating of at least 50 Amps

The amp rating for +12v is the most important thing.

For example I ran an EVGA GTX 760 FTW 4GB off of a Corsair CX 430W  PSU with a +12V @ 32Amps) and it ran flawlessly.

Soon you will be able to run GTX 880 SLI with a 750W!

Is it able to run it but I would suggest getting a 750w power supply. Antec, XFX,  Seasonic are the brands that I would recommend for a new power supply.
