Aurora Chalice Racing League

rucdoc

Good Morning All.

With the announcement of the Race Mode for Arena Commander, I propose a friendly, race league is established amongst the members of this Org. Owing to the fact that we are a world wide and large organization, and to allow for everyone who wishes to participate using a free form league setup, as described below, while still being regulated enough to allow for braging rights at the end of a season.

HOW TO REPORT A RACE:

Go to the report a race page.

Enter the race type, Single Player or a Multiplayer race

Select YOUR pilot, (please don't report races for other people, if you make a mistake just message me with all the info you entered and I can fix it)

Select your ship, again if you make a mistake let me know I can fix it.

Select which track, there might only be one option

Enter your time, minutes in the first box seconds and parts there of in the second so 10:32.88655 10 goes in the minutes section the rest goes in the seconds box. include as many digits after the . as are given in game.

Enter your finishing placement, if it's a single player race leave this on 1

Enter the number of Laps the default is 3 IF you run a single player race, leave this alone, for multiplayer select the number of laps the race covered. this is important to awarded pilot points

Provide a link if you want, if you don't want to that's fine, but if you can, please provide an imgur link or youtube vid or something, you don't have to, you really don't, but I would be happy if you included this.

then hit add record.

If you forget to enter something, if will sit there and tell you you forgot something, if we get a ton of spam enteries I will have to lock it down with a password which will be provided to the pilots so they can report races for themselves, but I really don't want to add this as it's a pain to code.

AGAIN if you make a mistake pm or email me I CAN FIX IT

Structure:

A website is under construction for the tracking of race data for all persons wishing to participate.

Each member wishing to participate will place their name on the signup sheet contained within the document linked below which will then be added to the Website so that their data can be submitted and tracked.

Race attendance and reporting will be the responsibility of the racer, and will be filled out on the web page with the following information: the pilots name, time with minutes and seconds in the appropriate slots, and finishing place, a link to a screenshot of the end of the race is requested but not required.

Once a week, each pilot will participate in a minimum number of races, still to be determined probably 3, to be elligable to claim victory in their class, for that week.

Scores will also be tabulated over the series allowing for weekly winners and over all winners.

Scoring:

The way it's gonna work is as follows, mostly cause it's WAY easier for me to code. Unless someone else has a better idea, please have better ideas.

Pilot points will be calculated for each race. 8 points for first 6 for second 4 for third 3 for fourth 2 for fifth and nothing for any other finishing position. (subject to change based on number of possible pilots in a race) you can also recive bonus points 1 for beating the average time on that track, and 1 for reporting the fastest time on the track. you will also gain 1 point for being the fastest average lap time, and the overall average lap time.

these points are based on a multi person race event, should a single player race event be released, I will code an option for that, but might delay the begining of the event.

Points will be tracked over the 8 weeks of the eventwith weekly reports totalling the points for each racer for the week, for their top 5 fastest races, and the overall page will follow the to 40 races over the course of the event. if you race more it will account for that and adjust.

Comments are welcome, and this is subject to change if someone else has a better idea, so please let me know.

While This is a friendly League, please take reporting races seriously. currently begin date is set for the 28th of August the day after the racing mode is released, to allow for some coding that can not be done before we know certain things, like which ships are avalible, how many tracks ect.

Please take a look at the site, and make suggestions here as to data you would like to see. and understand that the site will be under heavy development over the next week or so and thus might go down from time to time.

EDIT: adding the points rules from page 2.

EDIT 2: Added instructions for posting races.

EDIT 3: stuff.

Proposal for a points system:

this is a rough proposal written just before I go to bed, so take with the understanding that I will get up and hate it and want to change everything.

A pilot will gain Pilot points for position finished in a race, time under the track average, and bonus points for each reported race upto the required number each week. points will not be used to determine winners, but as a tie breaking mechanism.

sugestions on other trackable points and possible point values would be welcomed.

Ok having gone back and watched the gamescom coverage again, I think we are pretty well set to go, but would caution against flying in the death races as part of the league, as they will trash your times. I am making more progress on the site, making it easier for everyone to input data, as well as making it easier to read afterwards. I am not to the point of working on visual parts of the site, as I don't feel programing in pretty without function is a good thing.

I'm still debating the point system as well as the overall logic for League segments, either weeks or months or what ever. I have thrown days right out because not everyone has time to race every day, and that's a lot of coding, and well years is kind of to long. the logic for this will probably not be finished before we begin the first time section, but I should have it done and coded before it ends.

Currently I am thinking we set it at a minimum of 4 races a week which should be doable. I will try my best on the 27th or the day it releases to check the options possible within the races to make sure we have tracks/modes as well as all ships able to fly marked so that reporting can begin. as soon as possible. but it's possible that I won't be able to get the changes for this deployed until later in the morning on the 28th, depending on when the update happens on the 27th.

no worries rent, it's a friendly league to help build community action. participate when you can :)

Yeah just got to wait till I can afford an 8350, that's about a month from now.

My PC sometimes gets 30fps sometimes 13fps and over clocking doesn't seem to help

on that note, I'm now suffering through having no GPU until the 300 series comes along, so that Ill be fully ready for SC and W3 at 1440P.

Although I don't have any racing ships, I'd be happy to join too :D

It's like in a real world. You can race with anything as long as it's moving. I'm really looking forward to Constellation illegal street racing ;D

That would be awesome! Imagine a dozen of those behemoths secretly gathering and racing through the sketchy parts of Terra

New to Star Citizen? Look no further!

right now I have every ship on the stats page in my database, so anything that is racable will be an elegible ship. and I don't see why they should exclude none "racing" ships, people race everying, including lawnmowers.

Gonna make a request, at the moment I only have access to the 300I and the Hornet thru the loaner program. After V.9 drops if people with the M50 350R and any other Flyable ships could please provide me with two values, 1 base ship speed at 100% thrust, and 2 base ship speed with the boost applied at 100% thrust. this will help with a few things I am working on for the league.

Ok so update on how I'm gonna be running the first "Series" it will be an 8 week event. you do not need to participate in all 8 weeks if you don't want to. there will be no minimum number of races run. the way it's gonna work is as follows, mostly cause it's WAY easier for me to code.

Pilot points will be calculated for each race. 8 points for first 6 for second 4 for third 3 for fourth 2 for fifth and nothing for any other finishing position. Afaik we won't be able to choose who to race with right? Or are they putting that in the next update? Basically what I'm asking is do we still need to report our own times or will an actual race be held with all participants racing at the same time, if that makes sense. :)
