Why is this happenening?

So I got my new laptop right, I want to play some damn tekkit classic. So I install it, load up my world and oh would you look at that. A WHOPPING 12 FPS. On "Fast" settings with a render distance of normal.

I have a G550JK BTW. IDK why it would be doing this. This thing is supposed to be able to play games pretty well, is it not?

 

 

 

EDIT: I didn't know whether this belonged in PC gaming as it's about a game, or mobile as it involved a laptop. General seemed like the best place to drop it.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Woo tekkit classic! (I've got a server for it)

 

Tekkit classic runs poorly on most computers, though I seem to be getting 40+ FPS (Lowest settings) on my Asus K53TA at 1.8GHz, 4GB of ram allocated to tekkit classic with the latest java.

 

Not exactly sure why you would be getting such a low FPS, are you using a texture pack or anything? (I use Sphax 64x)

I just allocated 3/8GB. I'll tell you how it goes.

 

Now it's at 8 FPS.

Hmm, are you in a fresh world? or a world you've got machines and stuff in?

Is the laptop running in power saving mode?

If its anything like my laptop, it will only use passive cooling in power saving mode, which would murder any attempt to place load on the processor's by throttling like mad.

get the 64 bit version of java and make sure to uninstall the 32 bit version first

now in the launcher select more than 2GB of RAM (I select 4 to play with around 100fps)
