One 4k Monitor Vs. Eyefinity set up

richhobo

Ok so a little background on my set up. I'm running three 290 x's in X-fire and when i planned out this build I initially wanted to go for being able to game on a 4k monitor without a problem. However i've been waiting for the the PB279Q to get released, and i've began contemplating getting a couple either 1080p monitors or even a couple 1440p monitors as my cards should be able to handle it. What is a more satisfying gaming experience would you guys say? I'm not really inclined to go for ROG switfts as I doubt they're going to support adaptive sync, if and when, it is released.

what kind of gaming and do you do any serious work on it?

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

If you plan on planning on 1440p surround, its 30% more demanding than a single 4k monitor.

By couple do you mean few? You need 3 monitors for eyefinity.

I'd go 21:9 personally, if you're waiting for 4k pricing to drop. They're not cheap either though, for the good 1440p ones.

Decisions, decisions.

W/ 3 290xs I'd go 2160p SURROUND  and just either lower res(or settings), when surround gaming or just game w/ 1 monitor to increase framerates and only do full surround gaming on games more for fun where framerates neglible.

well i was split between going with 2 1440p monitors (as much as my wallet can handle right now) or just holding out for the new 4k asus to come out (although that LG looks really nice as well, and has an awesome price) 3 1080p monitors if they were worth it. and like i said 3 290x cards that are being watercooled (could OC them if i wanted) should suffice for even the more demanding monitors

as for gaming, i play anything from FPS, MMOs, to most new (good) titles that come out

+ 5-10% of games actually support that resolution.
