Why paying ATTENTION is worth it. 7850K problems.

All of the mistakes of my current build have caught up to me.

I've learned so much in the past two years about computers and building them.

That didn't stop me from making mistakes. I really want to run Two Way SLI GTX 770's.

I never thought I would want to do that 6 months ago when I started this build. It turns out

everything on the FM2+ format kinda sucks for Nvidia. Not to mention it was a little dumb buying an APU rather than a CPU.

So now I can't just go out and buy another 770 because

I haven't found a single FM2+ motherboard that supports SLI. Totally screwed my self.

Now I have to buy not only another 770, but another CPU and SLI supported Motherboard.

I also wanted to do a custom water loop.

I hope I can just find 2000 dollars somewhere!

Nonetheless I have a plan. I'm highly considering an i7-4790-k and a 1150 compatible with SLI motherboard.

I definitely wanna move away from AMD based anything. I'll always love AMD, but its not fitting for what I want anymore.

Is this a good plan? Or am I making another mistake and not seeing the potential problems I could have?

I think you should change the title was expecting something much different.

Edit: could just buy a 690 it's 2 770s in one card xD or just switch 290 cross fire...

yeah I'm in the same boat as you for figuring out the mistakes of my PC 3 years ago now that I shouldnt have bought a cheap mobo because I also wanted to SLI but my mobo doesn't support it. I also bought a 1000W PSU just because it was cheap and on sale. So I think a lot of people make mistakes their first time around.

you could sell your mobo and cpu to buy a new mobo and a i7 for sli or do what @PokemonTrainerFour said

Or just get some 290s and CF them.

I mean, a 4790K is miles better than a 7850 but hey, if you want to spend less, 290s are gr9

My budget is around 500 now. I'm going to save for a few more weeks. Its not like a live or die situation. I will always research before buy. I've learned a lesson ha.

The thing was I already have the 770.  I'll probably catch some hate for this, but looks are super important to me.

Most AMD cards always have a red and black theme it seems like. I'm going for black and purple.

Also like you said the 4970 is much better ha.

you could spray paint you gpu to a black and purple scheme or find a aftermarket gpu cooler that has a black and purple scheme.

This isn't a problem with the 7850k or the FM2+ platform. This is a lesson in thinking and planning ahead about what you might want to do in the future. When you chose to buy an Nvidia GPU, you should have considered the possibility of going SLI and if your motherboard supports it in the first place. If you had gone with an R9 series GPU, you wouldn't be in this situation.

It doesn't do well to dwell on decisions we've made in the past, but we can certainly learn from them. Just don't blame the equipment when you have only yourself to blame for your current situation. ;)

If you want to spend the least to get yourself out of this pickle and still run two GPUs, I'd suggest selling your GTX 770 and grabbing two R9-280X's. They are less expensive, perform the same as the 770 and have more Vram.

Dual graphics is completely overrated anyways.

It reducues the possible overclocking, most games don't even use the SLI/Crossfire properly anyways.

Single Graphics with high end perfect overclocking is far better for your efforts.

@Joey On PC - May I ask why you want to SLI GTX 770's? Are you running a surround multi-monitor setup or 21:9 1440p display?

TLDR only idiots buy apu's for gaming no offense OP,your lack of knowledge doesnt make you idiot but still :D

When i say all over the place APU's are trash and stay away from them people start acting crazy.

The only thing APU's are good for is if you want to build your grandma a super cheap machine she can use at home, but she would probably be better of witha laptop nowdays anyway.

Stop support and buying APU's they are useless for more "serious" jobs, they are segmented for a certain market stop recommending them for gaming period.

Yeah... that APU is a huuuge bottleneck anyway. I have a phenom II 945 (which is kinda close to the APUs) and it bottlenecks my singe 770 really bad. Even on old games. Watch dogs = 30 FPS average on low detail. So yeah, I'm getting a 4790k in a week, if you're SLIing, you definitely need a good CPU.

HARDWARE INTERRUPT MOTHAF#%A!

why do you need an i7 CPU?

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.

Video editing, Multi tasking.

K series for overclocking.

MMORPG players should always have a K series unlocked for OCing.
