Hello,

I'm a really bad overclocker and tried different overclocks on my CPU, sometimes it would blue screen, crash, etc. I usually stayed under 61c but sometimes I went over 67... I want to know if I damaged my CPU, because in BF4 my gpus (2x7950) are not getting max usage, and the CPU is only at around 70-80% on all cores...

Please help me diagnose this usage issue and bottleneck, its stock atm. Also what free program to use to compare my PC to other similar ones?

Motherboard: asrock 970 extreme 3 R2.0

that is normal.

67° is totally fine.

The 8320 starts to throttle at 60c... So yeah.

Yes but what about the GPU usage and CPU usage?

The 8320 starts to throttle at 60c... So yeah.

Well, even at stock its not 100% usage (50c max) and gpu usage is also not 99%...

Try to keep it under 60c. @Valhalla what cooler are you using? NEVER overclock with the stock cooler. Also, if the cpu goes over 72c it will fry, so be careful. It's normal that an 8320 would bottleneck crossfire 7950s a little.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I have a bequiet shadow rock 2, I know my motherboard is crap, I just want to let my GPUs go to their max, so what OC do I need? I only play BF4 and CS GO.

it will only be at 100% if you do synthetic benchmarks.

no no no!

it wont!

90° would be cool.

this has nothing to do with bottlenecking.

he should just turn thermal throttling off.

your gpus are basically at their max.

i wouldnt overclock too far with that board.

you might get +1 frame.

AMD told me 61.1c though...

when did amd tell you that?

then turn up the fans if you are scared.

What about 4.5GHz I could get to that and be stable in adia 64 at 58C? What I did to get there was change the multiplier and add 1.4125V or 1.4250V.

when did amd tell you that?

then turn up the fans if you are scared.

I did, My fans suck. Anyway is my CPU damaged and can I fix the GPU usage, they are at 60%...

How high exactly is gpu usage? Crossfire isn't 100% efficient so some performance loss is expected. You need to find out for yourself what oc is necessary. Again, I'd keep the cpu under 60c if I were you and if it goes over 72c it. will. FRY. Amd cpus don't shut down to prevent damage like intel chips would afaik.

that might have been the case 10 years ago. it isnt true anymore. and 72° is still fine.

the other guy is out of his fucking mind.

You should try your best to keep it below 62c at all times.

If it goes above 62c for a little while, it's no big deal, as long as it's not prolonged, and I assume you play BF for more than 10 minutes, so that's a no-no.

It's ok if it goes to 65c+ in synthetics, I would draw the line at 70 since real world usage will never get that hot. It should not be getting that hot at only 80~90% usage in a game.

And your CPU isn't damaged.

If your CPU was damaged it would be BSODing, there isn't really a "damaged" CPU, there is a degraded one, a working one, and a dead one. There isn't a "damaged" status. If it turns on it's either functioning normally or degraded.

A degraded chip will no longer be stable at clocks and voltages it was previously. If your chip begins to behave as such then you've seen the effects of thermal degradation.

Well I get (stock FX 8320) 70-100fps silk road BF4 Ultra 1080p 64p. I want to make this higher, I have a 144HZ monitor.

they are the be quiet! fans? they should be good.

BE quiet fan on the CPU heatsink some crappy fans that are loud and I got for free one on side taking air in and one on top dumping air out. Case is a bitfenix merc alpha.

my amd cpu runs at 90+ in summer. dw

Which One?

If you don't want to bottleneck two 7950's you should go intel. It even bottlenecks my single 7950 with a 8320 at 4.4 Ghz sometimes.
