Will AMD step up their CPU Game?

It has been a couple months since Intel has released their Haswell Refresh CPUs. The 20th Anniversary Pentium G2358 has been a great budget CPU that has amazing overclocking abilities and great single core performance all under $100. I've seen more budget gaming builds centered on mostly Intel processors rather than AMD. It seems like Intel is trying to expand over into the budget territory of CPUs. AMD has placed more focus on their APUs and haven't updated their FX-series since 2012 (Excluding the FX-9xxx series which consumes so much power). What do you think? Should AMD step up with some new updated CPUs or continue with what their doing?

No. Seems like they only care about APU's and the like now.

They will at some point. Then intel will have to step up their game, then amd will have to step up theirs and so on. It's a vicious circle.

Probably not, it is rumored that after piledriver the FX lineup will be discontinued in favour of apus and mobile chips.

i don't think so, there aiming for a different market and use than intel, APUs, for you to not have to get a add on GFX but still be able to hit acceptable level of performance like a home Media or a Small SFF Machine, but who knows, things might change

They more than likely will. AMD has K16 in development right now with Jim Keller in control of the project. The guy who brought forth Athlon 64, which destroyed Intel clock for clock. I'm not saying these new chips will do so, but AMD should at least still make a giant leap forward to catch up.

Currently they're working on APUs & GPUs ... FX cpus are on the sideline atm I believe Q4 2015-Q1 2016 is supposed to be the AM4 Release... Note they're using whole new architectures much more similar to Intel's
