iphone 4s problem

After 3 years of use my iphone 4s decided to stop working normally.Specific,the phone cant charge the battery when its on.I can only charge the battery after shut my iphone down.

Can you explain it?

Ps:the latest update 7.1.1 is not done yet.

What do you mean by after shutting the iPhone down?

Unlike Android, iPhone's don't charge when they're off unless they're really low on battery. Once they get enough charge to turn on they will try to turn on. If you plug in your iPhone after you've shut it down it will just turn on again.

do you mean it actually doesnt charge or it doesnt show you that it is charging. (leave it on charge then restart it to check)

I would recommend going to a apple store. (Are you in the US?) They are really accommodating if something is wrong with a iphone.

I had a similar problem like this on my Nexus 7 2013 after doing some updates to my cynogenmod custom ROM (so for you iOS) it worked again normally and it would only charge when it was off completely at any percentage.
