Skyrim Mod Related Glitch

bchampion96

Hey guys,

I just updated my mods as skyrim opened, you know that automatic thing that happens with steam? Anyway, the result is this:

post-3189-0-26390200-1408711816_thumb.jp

I've been through my mods disabling ones I think could be the culprit and a google search has not helped. Anyone had this issue or seen it before?

Thanks!

Looks like some props are not rendering.. I could be wrong though, don't even have Skyrim :)

It is something along those lines. However the exclamation mark things also appear in random spots on the ground and I can't figure out what texture/model should be there!

Try to verify the game cache in Steam and see if that helps.

7 files failed to validate. So when those are back, we'll see what happens

It's Garry's Mod all over again.

Are you using the Steam Workshop for mods btw? If so, that's the worst thing you can do. The mods uploaded there tend to be outdated, stick to the Skyrim Nexus - as they tend to state what patch version they were made for, and is overall superior.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

Yep steam workshop (hides in the corner). It's just right there and built in and everything. I'll have to go about re-modding again if you think it's work moving to the nexus?

I doubt it's missing textures, they're usually purple. If you don't have a lot of mods I'd recommend doing a fresh install, use Mod Organizer this time around if you aren't currently using it. Definitely download mods from the Nexus when possible.

I'm probably going to end up starting a fresh mod set. I don't wanna lose my save though :(

I know the feel, saying goodbye to my old saves really sucked. It was well worth it though, I don't even mind redoing everything since I enjoy my new mod set so much.  :D

Fair enough :P I liked how you could just grab mod sets from the workshop. Is there a thing like that on the nexus? I don't really have a whole lot of time to spend figuring out which mods work together

If you install the same mods using Nexus and a mod manager you can just keep using the save.

Well, I only recently started installing gameplay mods, but I've been researching visual mods for about a year now. I made this guide: http://tiny.cc/nextgenrim Be warned though, I'm always trying out new mods so it will constantly be slightly outdated, also reading a guide doesn't come close to how effective doing your own research can be.

Oh yeah, you may want to keep a list of all the mods you're currently using to make things easier for yourself

Nexus has a better base of modders than the Steam Workshop. For the Steam workshop, any bugger can upload onto it, and the mod authors don't always post all the detailed info in regards to what patch version it works with, or incompatibilities with some of the larger mods (Climates Of Tamriel, etc). Nexus has more reliable modders, and has a good community overall to fall back on if you have mod issues etc. And you'll find higher quality stuff there than the workshop too.

Plus, the Nexus Mod Manager is really helpful and nice to sort your mods out, keep them updated etc.
