Looking for an android tablet to use for school

BetterMixMaster

While school shopping for books I noticed a lot of them a much cheaper ebook rentail options that work on tablets. While I can just load them on my desktop, I need to have them with me. Anyone know of a good android tablet I could get? Cheap is good but I rather not have something slow and crappy that will just stop working in a few months.

Aside from the new Shield tablet being a 'gaming' tablet, it's a really good tablet regardless.

If I needed a tablet I'd be buying that (which I may soon).

Is it critical that it be Android?

I just have experience with android and plan to make a few android apps for my phone soon as well. I can live without it but it's something I already know how to work with.

Ok. If you're already part of the ecosystem then I guess it would be pretty jarring to switch, right?
