Quinnspericy: Mod of /r/gaming el_chupacupcake pushed to step down after Zoe Quinn update.

After releasing his statement on why specific topics and posts on /r/gaming are being censored, el_chupacupcake has received many negative opinions on his dealings with Zoe quinn.

 

He claims "I have no stake in Ms. Quinn -- personally, professionally or otherwise."

Many users have come forward posting proof of him conversing with Zoe over twitter and many believe el_chupacupcake is a lying bundle of sticks.

 

I think el_chupacupcake is trying to cover his own back and stem the flow of hate caused by the amount of censorship at the moment.

He also may have a personal stake in Quinn as he/mods didn't make an effort to treat Phil fish the same way when he was the target of something similiar.

 

TL:DR: OP is a bundle of sticks...

ep_chupa is a sellout and should be ashamed for the crap he's doing to r/gaming. Its all on Reddit admins if they force him out however, they're the only ones who can delist gaming and send a strong message.

 

Curiously, Kotaku hasn't said a word on this, and their sister site Jezebel who loves to talk about feminism is surprisingly quiet.

 

"Feminists" and "SJWs" setting back anything positive ever done for women and gaming, one crisis at a time.

I can't perceive anything at all newsworthy about this, especially not tech news. It's not like Reddit, 4chan or anything similar have users that are bound by journalistic conduct. This is in effect a post about nothing.

 

Amateurs will do shitty things, but it's pointless to post about them. All these youtube "personalities" and basement bloggers being held to some kind of standard because a throng of other amateurs respects their opinions on something is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

This has a lot to do with the attitude in game reviews and manipulating public perception to get more sales and gain favour 

 

I'd say thats a pretty big deal to talk about in and of itself.

And in the last few days, Zoe Quinn (or somebody using her name) has been filing copyright claims against YouTube videos critical of her, as well as a couple articles on some gaming news sites like GameNosh and N4G. 

 

It's not 100% clear how true these allegations are, but if somebody(Zoe or one of her fans) is filing copyright claims to silence criticism, it's pretty rotten.

Pretty much. And we have the lovely-as-always Phil Fish calling her critics "rapists" so it's been a pretty fun week on the internet overall. :S

i think they are happy to have something to yell at for once. Since Phil Fish and Fez 2, We have had no bigish scandals to moan about.

Oh right, He is some asshat who made a really nice game. The fame went to his head and he cancelled on the sequel and took the money.

As someone who never visits Reddit I can say this "huge scandal" seems like a bunch of elementary schoolers having a pointless fight to me. This must be how mainstream public feel about the internet.

This didn't really touch down on Reddit until a day or two ago. i had no idea this was happening apart from a post I skimmed on /r/gaming about Total Biscuit.

 

I wouldn't call it a huge scandel because on the internet that depends on what you do or what sites you regularly visit. For you this may just be a pissing contest among-est redditors but to someone else its a scandal.

 

I too wouldn't call it a scandal... Just drama, Sweet delicious drama.

It's quite nice actually being able to see the corruption in the video game industry on full display like this. This entire issue will change game journalism. Hopefully for the better if the community wins. Also get the popcorn cause this is gonna be good :D

Its a good thing that this is publicly visible. Allows everyone to see that game journalism isn't so cut and dry.
