Second shooting in Fergusson kills a 25 year old

There has been a second shooting near Fergusson. I think gunning him down and killing him on the spot is waaay over the top. Couldm't they have just shot him in a leg? Or used a taser? Or used pepperspray? Or anything non lethal at all? What are these guys thinking?? I'm not from the US, but i can feel the tension from 3000 miles away for crying out loud! I don't know how the Fergusson police is going to solve this...

 

I'm not saying the victim wasn't a criminal, because he was, but gunning him down on the streets is not okay. Not okay at all. A video has been released as well.

 

 

"The unnamed suspect, identified only as a 23-year-old, was approached by officers after reports of a store robbery and a “man with a knife acting erratically,” St Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said.

“As officers arrived, the suspect turned towards the officers and started to walk towards them, clutching his waistband. He then pulled out a knife in what we describe as an overhand grip, and told the officers: 'Shoot me now, kill me now'.”

Police said the ignored verbal commands to drop the knife and continued to approach the officers, coming “within three to four feet” before two policemen opened fire."

I heard this on the news like 2 days ago. Legally you can't shoot to incapacitate because then it means your life wasn't in enough danger to use lethal force. Dude robbed a store with a knife and walked towards cop with it, I'm not surprised he was shot.

Sure they could have used a tazer instead though.....

Dude robbed place. Cops showed up. He walked towards them holding a knife asking to be killed.

I can't wait until they say the cop in the first shooting is told he's innocent and not going to jail. Oh boy the riots will be going strong.

If the dude has no gun, you have no business shooting him with one. Hell, even if he HAD a gun, there are non-lethal ways to put him to sleep from a comfortable distance.

I have to say I was less concerned with this one than with the first one. I can certainly more easily justify shooting someone when they're walking towards you with a knife, however a taser would have been a much better way of incapacitating him.

 

That being said, America's gun obsession is crazy and too many people die because of it.

Supposedly the cop that shot the original "victim" is in the hospital with a fractured orbital socket. Which is not something you get from a "surrendering suspect".

 

People need to allow the rule of law to prevail, stop rioting, and let whatever happens happen. All they are doing is making things 10 times worse.

 

We have the advantage of hindsight and picking apart what that cop did at our leisure. Who knows what really happened, unless we have video footage proving that it was an entirely race based "execution" then no one can really say 100% for sure what happened. All this media and rioting about it just makes finding the truth 100% impossible.

I was getting racist remarks from white people, and I'm white.

I'm talking about the neighborhoods full of certain people where you can get killed for being white. Racism is everywhere. Not just the south. Furthermore, racism doesn't only apply to white people against black people, there are plenty of black racists that hate white people.

It bothers me when it's assumed these are random killings when those involved were robbers. Do I think the police are corrupt there? Hell yeah. But I also don't think those shot were saints, either. That entire city has issues.

 

Keep your hands to yourself and you wouldn't be in trouble, this goes for both civilians and police.

Just because a white cop shot a black kid, doesn't mean he did so because it was black, that assumption is the only racism I have seen going on in this whole debacle.
