First desktop gaming and video rendering build help

The first few things I want to say are that I am patient and don't mind waiting for great deals, markdowns, and new hardware releases. I would like to get this build under $4,000 USD including preiphials/OS. I would like to point out that $4,000 USD is my max price point, anywhere I can I save money is welcomed.

I want to build a gaming and video rendering PC capable of running new releases on Ultra with a high frame rate. That being said I am fine with 1080p displays, but no lower than that. If it is possible to make this a Hackintosh that would be fantastic. I also plan on doing video editing of gameplay and twitch streaming.

In terms of CPU I am thinking of a Quad-core intel i7 of some sort, preferably with 3.5GHz or more. I would like to get at least 32gb of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM. GPU wise I am an Nvidia guy, I would like to match or exceed the power of a 780M. For my hard drive I would like to throw my money at a 1tb SSD or at least a 500GB+ SSD for my OS and games, other media can be stored on my current external. Also, support for wireless 802.11ac is preferable.

I have no idea about motherboards, cases, power supplies, or fans/cooling. The MSI Nightblade that Slick reviewed looked like a good option for me, but I am not sure what comes with a barebones PC. Also, as far as case goes I would prefer something smaller like the MSI Nightblade or similar. I have a good idea which mouse I will be getting, a Logitech G402. I also prefer a mechanical keyboard preferably with a backlight. As stated above 1080p is acceptable for my display, but I would like something with minimum input lag as well as support for my PS4. I am consider getting a dual monitor set up to make streaming/editing easier and more streamlined.

@ZacDaMan72 Thanks for the great feedback. I was wondering could you tell me what you get with a barebones PC like the MSI Nightblade? I feel I am willing to drop down to 16GB RAM for this case depending on if it makes sence.

You get a mITX motherboard and a PSU included. mATX is MUCH more versatile though.

The memory modules are too tall to fit under the Hyper 212 EVO fan. The case does not have the clearance to allow the fan to be mounted 3mm higher.

With an unlocked (K) cpu it would be better to get a z97 motherboard. This would allow for overclocking should that every be desired. If you are positive that you don't want to overclock get an H97 motherboard. The B85 motherboard might require a BIOS update before it will work with the i7-4790K cpu.

There should be no need for the thermal compound. The Hyper 212 EVO comes with a tube.

IPS monitors have better color reproduction and wider viewing angles.

Do you have an alternative fan reccomendation in place of the Hyper 212 EVO? Perhaps a smaller but equally powerful RAM kit?
As far as the monitors go I was looking for something between 24-27 inches with 2 HDMI inputs, DVI, and VGA at 1080p with a 1ms response time.

G.Skill Ares, Corsair Vengeance LP, Crucial Ballistix Sport, Corsair XMS3, Kingston HyperX, Adata XPG v1.0 and anything marded Low Profile (LP) will fit under the cooler. Look for DDR3-1600 CAS <= 9. You may find that DDR3-1866 CAS <= 10 is around the same price.

The Hyper 212 EVO is very good value. Noctua NH-U12S is more expensive but does not interfere with memory. NH-U14S is more expensive and also does not interfere with memory. You can check for motherboard compatibility of the Noctua coolers at their web site.

You will not find IPS monitors with 1ms response time. Very low response time is a bit of a red herring. You should find that 5ms or better is quite sufficient for gaming.

You can use pcpartpicker.com to list the monitors that meet your specifications. 1080p on 27" monitors may not look terribly good as one tends to sit much closer to monitors than TV.

The Gigabyte is a good boards, and it saves you lots of $$$ over the Asus.

I have no knowledge of that Monitor, but it is an IPS panel so it will give you better colour reproduction over a TN monitor.

I am not personally familiar with the monitor but AOC have a good reputation for their budget IPS panels.

"Gaming" or "ROG" does not have to be in the name of a motherboard to make it a good choice for gaming. Unless one intends to push the overclocking, pretty much any Z97 motherboard will do. Although the lower cost ones may not do a great job if they get fully loaded with gpu and memory. Gigabyte make good quality motherboards and I wouldn't hesitate buying one. I personally prefer Asus, but often pick something else because they do go for a significant premium.

That PSU is a bit overpriced imo. You can get a fully modular psu such as the EVGA Supernova G2 750W for $99.99. It will also allow for a 2nd gpu should you ever need it.

The EVGA is pretty long at 180mm so you wouldn't be able to use the bottom case fan mount next to the psu.

@lee32uk Well, I wasn't planning on installing a bottom fan near the PSU... will the size of the EVGA interfere with the 2.5inch drive bay?

Edit: Also will the size of the EVGA handicap cable management coming from the PSU?

No the psu won't affect the drive bays. It will just cover a part of the fan mount.
