Can anyone give me some tips on making individually braided extension power cables?

Hi, I just got all my parts, and probably gonna start working on it during the weekend, meanwhile I'm looking for tips online, I know that cables on the top need to be longer, but how much longer? any other tips beside this one? also, is 30cm long enough? thanks! <3
