Just installed elementary OS

I have an older dell vostro and I installed elementary OS on an SSD and slapped it in there. So far I'm really loving it, especially because I could use google chrome because this is my main internet driver. Are there any good linux benchmarking tools? I was curious to know how this machine may hold up against -some- light games.

Not sura on benchmarks. I love EOs. I have it as my laptops only os. You will learn to love linux.

My first experience was with mint, and while I thought it was alright, EOs is so much more aesthetically pleasing.

EDIT: Any beginner tips/download recommendations?

Just play. Download things and try them. I personally replace default apps with others. Chrome, vlc. Just things that you want to try. If you have more questions about Linux/Eos let me know. What version are you using?

Learn to use .tar.gz files and how to install them. To install.deb files use "GDebi".

To run a program, right click the file without a extension, go to properties, open permissions tab and tick "mark as executable", then open a terminal in that folder and type "./example". This is how TeamSpeak 3 is run. This will have a terminal window open while the program is running.

Get familiar with the Terminal, as all the things in Linux are done via the terminal.
