Why don't 20 - 24" 1440P monitors exist?

Hello Forums!

 

I noticed that the smallest 1440p monitors are 27" now I though that this was due to physical restrictions but Dell has a 24" 4K monitor now I know that this isn't "true" 4K but they have a 27" 4K monitor and i'm not sure if that's "true" 4K either but physical restrictions really aren't a problem so why don't we have 1440p monitors that are smaller than 27"?

The pixel density of a 27" 1440p display is already extremely high. Reducing the size would increase it even more but it really wouldn't be necessary.

why would you want so many pixels in such small space is the question. 20-24" is a perfect 1080p territory, unless you sit 20cm from your monitor

Because of PPI i believe because 1080p is enough to provide a crystal clear image on 20" - 24" and 1440p is expensive to make in that size i assume

Because it's not a mainstream resolution, companies probably didn't think that there's enough demand to make 24" 1440p displays

1440P at 24" wouldn't make much of a difference from 1080P. Would just make things smaller and games harder to run for no good reason. 24" 1080P is the sweet spot.

Why do you need res higher than retina on iphone? not really nessary, theirs a point where it becomes pointless, and a waste.

i wish 1440p was adopted my mianstream, and i still find 27' a littel big for a monitor

They make 15in and 17in laptop monitors with the same resolution just like there has been 15in and smaller 1080p displays. I think its all due to marketing which is why that 24in 4k dell intrigues me.

I also though haveing two 1440p 27in monitors would much rather have 2560x1440 30in ones.

That's a small niche. A 27" monitor is the perfect size for gaming and 1440p gives you better pixel density than 1080p and at that size.

but i cant fit 2 27" monitors on my desk, i barely fit 2 21.5

No, no, no, no. "retina" is a joke. I can't stand my iphone just because I can distinguish those pixels. It's not a waste.

why i put in quotes, no higher then 1080p would work.

Some people can't fit 27" monitors are their desks, take me for example while I don't have a system to power 1440p my desk is probably 3 feet by 2 feet so I can barely fit a 21.5" monitor with other peripherals.

If you are paying upwards of $300 for a monitor you should probably buy a desk that can fit it first.

Some people don't understand the point of high resolution on a small screen. They think everything will be small. What they don't understand is that the point is to increase the DPI of the OS, which will allow to have smoother text, smoother and more detail icons, all by being about the same size (ideally). Making text easier to read, and making the general computer usage more enjoyable to the eye, exactly like their tablets and smartphones they have around.

Now if you want to compromise a bit, where you don't set the DPI as high, and get extra work space in addition, then you are free to do so.

4K is much harder to drive than 1440p.

Blame micro$oft for poor dpi scaling on Windows.

The whole infrastructure to make high DPI programs is there.

It's developers that refuses to update their software. Most likely, as demand increases, will use that as a reason to push sales of their new software.

I have implemented it, and its pretty easy to do. So there is no excuse.
