Which upgrade do I go for?

Looking to upgrade my GPU (GTX 770 4GB Windforce). Should I buy another 770 or wait and buy a single gpu (that would be in the $450) range?

Can you also give an estimate in years of how long each setup would last?

The lifespan of your system will depend heavily on what games you play at what resolution and at what settings. I personally would at least wait until the release of the GTX 800 series cards before passing judgment on either option. If the rumors are true the newer cards will have a 30% performance increase over their 700 series counterparts of the same number (i.e. 870 will be 30% better than the 770, 880 will be 30% better than 780) and will cost less than their current gen counterparts right now. And, even if the rumors aren't true, the 700 series cards will drop sharply in price after the release. Your 770 will surely be fine until the late september release of the 800 series. Then pass your judgment with that information.

I would say another 770 4GB would do you just fine. Unless you seriously need performance increases in all your games, in which case you'd want a 780Ti or what this guy suggested down below with the 880. But you won't currently find a strong enough single card with the performance boost you want unless you're willing to go AMD. And SLI 770 4GBs will provide much more benefit than a R9 290X. Hell my friend OCs and OVs his R9 290 to just below the point when it crashes and still can't beat my 780Ms running at 950/6000; and 4GB 770 SLI would be the same cards I have but running at something like 1100+/7000 (depending on your manfacturer). That being said, if you wish to wait for the 880 card, you may be able to....

take this advice up here, and throw your 770 into a PhysX card, so you get all the performance goodness of a 880 + free PhysX. Sounds good, no? Or simply as he said wait till the 880 series releases in ~2 months and get a second 770 4GB for nice and cheap.
