Looking for FX-6300 Motherboard Recommendations

Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC's CPU to an FX-6300. The only problem is that I am currently using an A8-5500 APU on the FM2 socket, while the 6300 runs on AM3+. As a result, I need to buy a new motherboard too, and I made this thread to look for reccomendations of good AM3+ boards.

I am looking to spend less than $100 USD, but can go to $120 if necessary. I have an ATX case, so ATX or micro-ATX mobos will work. I have one 7870 GPU and don't think that I will be buying another to crossfire. Also, I will probably be over clocking the 6300 in the future, so I will need a board that supports that.

Any help is appreciated!

Gigabyte ga-970a-ud3p

The 990fxa-ud3 rev 4 is better but a bit outside your budget.

I would recommend against that to be honest. Mine (it's the revision 4.0) still has VRM issues. Maybe it's just the one off. But he's better getting the ASUS equivalent in that price bracket instead.

The Asus M5A97 R2.0 is your not planning to do crossfire or sli, Asus M5A99FX Evo or Pro R2.0 would be a mobo to chose if your doing crossfire or sli.

I'm considering an i5, but if I do get one then I would get one with an unlocked multiplier.

i was just showing you something that would cost less or around the same as an FX-6300 (+ AM3+ overclocking ready motherboard + After market CPU cooler) while outperforming it completely even at stock speed but if you have the money to afford an unlocked i5 then by all means go for it as long as it won't mean going with a crappier GPU....
