Best paint to use on Plastic?

VulsaviiK

I'm looking for a black paint that comes in a spray-can, has a flat/matte black finish, and is as durable as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should use. This is for plastic, I should point out, all the metal is at powder-coat right now.

The other question I have, is can I use Plastidip over a paint like what I'm looking for, and still peel it off later without damaging the paint, if I change my mind on the colour scheme a few years from now

Why not just use plastidip that is the right colour now?

you can then peel it off and apply a different colour in the future

Use plastidip. It is magical. It also gives you a nice matt finish :)

Plasti-dip is the fastest and easiest way to re-color it easily but just remember it is a rubber coating and lacks contact and abrasion qualities like paint does so just be careful not to mar it.

As for paint, using something like Krylon or Rustolem plastic spray paint is a good choice, if you want paint with really heavy pigmentation I always suggest to look for artist/graffiti spray paint. As for recoloring you can add a few layers of plasti-dip as the base coat then apply a spray paint over top, giving you the ability to peel off the layers to get the original surface below.

I'd go with Krylon Fusion, its remarkably tough for a cheap spray paint.

I painted this two years ago, assuming it would look like crap after a year and would need repainted. It's my wife's AR15 so it isn't abused by any means but its had its fair share of rough handling. Its hard to tell in the picture, but there are some small spots where the paint has come off from leaning it on barbwire fences, etc but it has held up great IMO.
